A Film About A Uterus
Dir. Aryo Khakpour and Elika Mojtabaei - (20min)
The story of a young Iranian woman, Nava, whose mother has been admitted to the hospital for a hysterectomy. No male next-of-kin is available, so she unwillingly becomes Mother’s “guardian,” signing a release form on her behalf, and transporting her uterus (in a jar) to a pathologist in another part of the city. As she embarks on this mission, she must contend with others’ aggressive behaviours while caring for the womb that birthed her as if it’s her own newborn.
